HIGH POINT -- With homes sales increasing in 2004, residents looked to furnish their new places.

The most recent report from accounting and consulting firm BDO Seidman tracks furniture sales for 2004 through November.

It showed a 6 percent increase in orders from furniture retailers to manufacturers compared with the same period for 2003. Numbers for the month of December weren't available yet.

"Over the last few years, home sales were good, but furniture sales weren't following as we thought they would," said Ken Smith, an analyst with BDO's High ...
