THE Hasmonaean house under Herod I the Great (37 u 4 BC) ruled Judaea until it was annexed as a Roman province in AD 6.

Before Rome until about 142 BC, Judaea was successively a province of the Greek Seleucid monarchy and Egypt.

Herod the Great became a client uking fully dependent on Emperor Augustus. HerodEs son Antipas was given a princedom u Galilee and Peraea u and like his father ruled as a client of Rome.
