Ag outlook positive: Farmers expect better growing season this year.

May 26--Ohio farmers intended to reduce the amount of corn planted this year because rising fuel prices have led to higher fertilizer and transportation costs. Soybean acreage, meanwhile, was expected to increase, because the legumes are cheaper to fertilize and transport.

Besides those production shifts, the outlook is favorable for the state's growing season, experts said. It's easier to be optimistic about the state's crops this year, given what happened last year.
