THE Eden District Municipality has been declared a disaster area "for technical reasons" following the temporary closure of the Kaaiman's River Pass between George and Wilderness.

"It is not unsafe or impassable, but we need to cut red tape to speed up the repair of critical infrastructure," said Premier Ebrahim Rasool.
