NORFOLK - Mozart and Shostakovich, this year's musical birthday boys (Mozart's 250th and Shostakovich's 100th), were the focus of Norfolk Chamber Consort's first concert of its 38th season Monday night. The audience at ODU's Chandler Recital Hall was treated to a Mozart rarity along with two diverse quintets.

The rarity was the "Adagio and Rondo in C, K. 617," a work featuring the glass armonica. This unusual instrument consists of glass goblets that are mounted on a turning cylinder. The performer ...
