Oct. 6--NAGOYA -- Forty years after Toyota Motor Corp. introduced the Corolla passenger car, a new model, which will be the 10th under the product line, will be launched next Tuesday.

The Corolla, which hit the market in 1966 when the Japanese economy was finally taking off after the devastation wreaked by World War II, caught on as a mass-marketed car targeted at the ordinary populace, most of which was purchasing a car for the first time.
