Dec. 13--Visitors are one step closer to taking a visual leap off the Grand Canyon's edge.

The Skywalk, a glass-bottomed walkway jutting 70 feet from the Canyon's rim and 4,000 feet above the Colorado River, will open to the public in late March, developers and owners of the $30 million project announced this week.

Under construction since mid-2005, the Skywalk is part of Grand Canyon West, a tourism-development entity owned by the Hualapai Indian Tribe, whose reservation is in Northwest Arizona, south of the Colorado River.
