Actor Jerry Lewis and his Muscular Dystrophy Assn. Telethon reduces the human worth of people afflicted with neuromuscular disease. Although it may seem that Lewis has a noble aim, he reinforces the superior-inferior spatial structure through the telethon. Not surprisingly, disability activists have been prostesting against the telethon and Lewis because of his representation of people with muscular dystrophy as disabled. These activists also claim that the audience are presented with distorted information about the disorder in an effort to solicit donations.
