Industrial gas turbine manufacturers such as Kawasaki Heavy Industries Corp., Westinghouse Electric Corp. and General Electric Co. are producing better gas turbines. More efficient and environmentally safe turbines are achieved through better designs that allow higher pressure ratios, greater operating temperatures and improved emission controls. The new gas turbines are ideal for electric power cogeneration, in which combustion waste heat is used to power a steam turbine to produce more electric power using the same amount of fuel.
