CELEBRATIONS PLANNED FOR JOHN WILKES.
|
(SATURDAY JANUARY 20) THE celebration of Aylesbury MP John Wilkes's life may commemorate two of his greatest fights with the artist William Hogarth and politician the Earl of Sandwich.
Aylesbury Town Council will be marking the 250th anniversary of the controversial libertarian's election to the town on July 8.
And when the events working group meets in early February members will consider making large reproductions of Hogarth's unflattering engraving of Wilkes.
