Hospital patients say: Bring back the 88 bus.

AN ELDERLY cancer patient who cares for his sick wife has appealed to First buses to restore the famous 88 service.

Tony Steer, of Halton, Leeds, was recently making daily trips to St James's to visit his wife Jackie.

Mrs Steer, who had a massive stroke in 2001 and is also receiving kidney treatment, suffered a serious stomach infection after a fall.

The 69-year-old was in hospital for three weeks.

Mr Steer said the journeys to see his wife were "an ordeal," as he had to change buses in Leeds city centre.
