The French electricity regulator, la Commission de Regulation de l'Electricite (CRE), issued an unfavourable opinion on June 5, 2001 concerning the price proposed for wind power. The CRE believes that the proposed charges would provide wind power operators with undue profits and lead to a sharp rise in electricity prices in France and are an over-costly way for society to meet the renewable energy targets set by the government.
