Dowson, Sir Philip Manning
Dowson, Sir Philip Manning (1924– ). South-African-born architect, he worked with Ove Arup from 1953, becoming a founder of Arup Associates in 1963. Among the works of Arup Associates are the Maltings Concert Hall, Snape, Suffolk (1965–7— with Derek Sugden), the IBM Process Assembly Plant, Havant, Hants. (1966–72), Sir Thomas White Building, St John's College, Oxford (1970–6—with an elegant precast concrete frame), and part of the Broadgate Development, London (1983). He designed the Modernist Long Wall House, Long Melford, Suffolk (1962–4).
