Rosenberg, Eugene
Rosenberg, Eugene (1907–90). British architect, born in Moravia. Educated in Czechoslovakia, he worked with Le Corbusier from 1929. He settled in England in 1939, forming a partnership with F. R. S. Yorke and Cyril Mardall (1909–94) in 1944 which became Yorke, Rosenberg, & Mardall (YRM). Rosenberg's credentials were firmly established within International Modernism, and he quickly became part of the English Modernist circle with Fry, Gibberd, and others. Among his works with YRM were the Cowley Peachey Housing Development, Middlesex (1947), the Sigmund Pumps Factory, Gateshead, Co. Durham (1948), Barclay Secondary School, Stevenage, Herts. (1950), Warwick University (1965–71), and St Thomas's Hospital, London (1966–74).
