Neumann, František (b Přerov, 1874; d Brno, 1929). Cz. conductor and composer. Worked in various Ger. and Cz. opera houses 1903–19. On Janáček's recommendation, appointed cond. Brno Nat. Th. 1919–29. Collab. closely with Janáček and cond. f.ps. of Káťa Kabanová (1921), The Cunning Little Vixen (1924), Šárka (1925), and The Makropulos Affair (1926), also f.ps. of operas by Novák and Ostrčil. His 8 operas incl. Die Brautwerbung (Linz, 1901), Liebelei (Frankfurt, 1910), Herbststurm (Berlin, 1919), and Beatrice Caracci (Brno, 1922).
