Entodiniomorphida (class Ciliatea, subclass Spirotrichia) An order of ciliate protozoa which occur as commensals in the rumen of cattle, sheep, and other ruminants, and in the gut of various other herbivores (e.g. horses). The organisms are anaerobic and can digest cellulose. There are two families, and many genera.
