COSTS SOAR FOR MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY, STUDY FINDS
|
Links between mental illness and overall health have been more
firmly established in a study of nearly 30,000 federal employees and
members of their families.
The most startling revelations, however, point to soaring costs
for mental health therapy - much of it affecting large companies -
along with strong indications that too few corporate leaders are
paying attention to the threat.
Among the terrible penalties: Declining productivity and the
diminution of profits.
On the positive side, general health costs appear to decline
after employees receive mental health therapy.
