Eosander, Johann Friedrich, Freiherr von Göthe
Eosander, Johann Friedrich, Freiherr von Göthe (1670–1729). Scandinavian-born, he became Court Architect in Berlin, succeeding Schlüter as architect to the Berlin Schloss: from 1707 to 1713 he worked there, adding the west side with the great triumphal-arch portal and part of the frontage facing the Lustgarten (all destroyed). He designed part of the main wing, the cupola with drum, and the chapel at Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin, from 1702. He also designed the Royal Schloss at Schönhausen, near Berlin (from 1704), carried out works at the Schloss, Oranienburg, also near Berlin (1706–9), and designed the central block of the Garden Palace Monbijou, Berlin (from 1708). He built a mansion at Altlandsberg, near Frankfurt-on-the-Oder (1709—destroyed), and the Schloss at Übigau, near Dresden (1724–6).
