Portlandian The youngest stage of the Jurassic in Britain, overlain by sediments of the Purbeckian Stage and resting in turn on those of the Kimmeridgian. It is characterized in southern England by mollusc-rich limestones. See also MALM; TITHONIAN; and VOLGIAN.
