Kirshbaum, Ralph (Henry) (b Denton, Texas, 1946). Amer. cellist and conductor. Début with orch. Dallas 1959. Won Cassadó comp., Florence, 1969, and Tchaikovsky comp., Moscow, 1970. Settled in London 1971. NY début 1975. Plays in pf. trio with Pauk (vn.) and Frankl (pf.). Soloist, with Pauk and Imai, in f.p. of Tippett's triple conc. (1980). Gave f. Amer. p. of Maxwell Davies's vc. conc., Cleveland 1989. Senior vc. tutor, RNCM.
