18. The destruction of the Berlin Wall
Many people thought that Germany’s problems were over at the conclusion of WWII. The Berlin Wall and the extraordinary moments in history surrounding it prove that was not the case. After the war was over, the unrest between the Germans that still wanted a communist nation and the Germans that wanted a democratic nation finally came to head. The result was the Berlin Wall, which divided Germany until 1989. It’s destruction marked the beginning of healing for many German people.
