26. French women are punished

During World War II many extraordinary moments in history took place. One of the lesser talked about moments is when French women who had been seen with or impregnated by German Soldiers were shamed in an age old way. Their heads were shaved to mark their betrayal and they were paraded thru the streets like witches once were. Often during their public march they were mostly nude or branded. According to sources, around 20,000 women were documented to have been punished in this way.
