In the 1960s, the CIA thought they had purrrrfect plan. They launched a mission called the Acoustic Kitty Project. The plan consisted of using domestic cats to spy on the Kremlin and other Soviet leaders. Microphones were surgically implanted into the ears of the kitties used in the experiment. A radio transmitter was also embedded to equip the cat for the operation. Thwarted quickly, the first mission failed when the kitty was ran over by a taxi. It’s reported that the short lived operation cost the CIA around $20 million.
