8. Union workers are victimized
This extraordinary moment in history is not often talked about. In 1911, when America was not yet defending it’s citizens rights in the workplace, 150 young women and girls lost their lives. The workers at Triangle Shirtwaist company had been attempting to unionize so they could get better working conditions and livable wages. The management at the garment factory was not pleased with their desire to unionize and decided to fix the problem for good. They retaliated by locking the workers inside the building as a fire raged.
