21. Picnic with the Alligators

This unbelievable photo from history isn’t a joke. At the California Alligator Farm, guests could eat with and play with the gators. The gator farm was a main tourist attraction of the early 1900s. Children could sit with baby alligators and other patrons could have a meal with the alligators. More than 1000 gators lived in about 20 ponds in the park. While at the height of it’s popularity, the park hosted gator performances throughout the day and encouraged their guests to interact and get to know the gators.
