23. Horse Diving
An act no longer seen in today’s festivals and gatherings is horse diving. In the early part of the 1900s, horse diving was a common occurrence. In this unbelievable photo from history, an intense horse dive is taking place. Platforms for the popular event were sometimes as high as 60 feet tall. The horses and their riders would typically dive into a pool of water as a crowd of spectators watched. Some would call this display horrific today, but in the early stages of entertainment, this brought in the cheers and the smiles.
