26. The First Body Armor
The Brewster Body Shield is pictured here in this unbelievable photo from history. Developed during World War 1, the US Army outfitted some of it’s soldiers in the first body armor that protected against the bullets the British were using. Even though it was the first, it was not the best. Weighing in at about 40 lbs, it was extremely heavy and not the best for being agile during combat. It’s shortcomings made way for other types of armor to be built and worn during the war.
