Pamukkale, Turkey

Pamukkale means “cotton castle” in Turkish, and this could very well be the name of the fantasy movie set in this Candy Land-esque place. Travertine terraces set into the hillside overflow with warm spring water that cascades down the shimmering limestone. Visitors have been coming to bathe in these mineral-rich waters for centuries.
A local legend says the area’s bright white stalactites are actually made of solidified cotton that giants left out to dry in the sun.
