1. The temperature at which the atmospheric-pressure scale of a particular barometer reads correctly. The temperature at which this is so in latitude 45° is called the standard temperature of that barometer. At other temperatures and other latitudes, corrections must be applied.

2. The fixed point (indicated by a pointer) that is the zero of the scale of a Fortin barometer.
