Distance Learning Program

Through the power of the Internet, Berkeley brings its classrooms to students online with the same high standards of its on-site classes. Students receive the same proven curriculum, faculty support, high scholastic requirements, and ultimate job placement as the students in on-site programs. They learn directly from faculty members with excellent teaching credentials and successful records in business. Small, stimulating classes create a high degree of interaction in the development of creative and analytical skills. Students can log on to Berkeley anytime, anywhere—and earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in business administration, business administration–international business, business administration–marketing, management, management–entrepreneurship, or magement–human resource management; a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in general business; or an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in business administration–management, business administration–marketing, information systems management, or international business in less than three years.

Berkeley supports each one of its online students with an instructor, classmates, and an academic adviser, all of whom are just an e-mail away.

Berkeley has educated students of all generations. Understanding that many of these students may need to balance work, family, and social responsibilities with their course work, a Berkeley student may log on to a course at any time from any location in the world.

Student Services

Online learners may use all of Berkeley's services, from libraries to academic advisers. Berkeley's full-service Career Services Division has twenty career professionals who specialize in each major field of study. Berkeley's Career Services' professionals work with students to identify career options, develop and refine resume and interviewing skills, secure internship positions, and schedule interviews in the areas surrounding the six New York/New Jersey locations. Lifetime career assistance is available to all Berkeley graduates.

The Berkeley balance of a conceptual and practical education consistently results, year after year, in well over 90 percent of its graduates gaining employment in positions related to their fields of study.

Credit Options

Academic advisers help students transfer their previously earned credits to Berkeley. Prior learning experiences (including alternatives to classroom instruction) may help students earn credits and complete their programs ahead of schedule. The College also assesses possible credit awards for portfolios. This procedure requires the submission of a well-written and fully documented experiential learning portfolio for faculty evaluation for credit.

Since its inception in 1931, Berkeley College has evolved and expanded to become recognized as a premier educator in the New York metropolitan area. The College prepares men and women of all generations for successful careers in business. All six urban and suburban locations are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The New York and New Jersey campuses are authorized to confer bachelor's and associate degrees.

Faculty

Berkeley's faculty members are practicing professionals who are as accessible as they are accomplished. Faculty members combine academic credentials and business success in the fields they teach, ensuring that students acquire the most current knowledge and skills. Several of Berkeley's faculty members are nationally recognized authors, lecturers, consultants, and leaders in business education.

Admission

Basic requirements for admission to Berkeley College include graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent and entrance exam or SAT/ACT scores. A personal interview is strongly recommended. The following credentials must be submitted as part of the application process: a completed application form, a nonrefundable $50 application fee, and an unofficial transcript for currently enrolled high school students or a high school diploma or its equivalent for high school graduates.

Students who graduated from an accredited high school or its equivalent and attended a college or university are considered to be transfer students. To be considered for admission, transfer students must submit an application for admission and the nonrefundable $50 application fee, a transcript from each college or university attended, and a high school transcript or GED certificate. For all students, applications are accepted after credentials are received.

To be admitted directly to the upper division, students must have completed either a relevant associate degree or at least 60 semester/90 quarter credits in appropriate course work (with a grade of C or better) at Berkeley or another regionally accredited institution.

Tuition and Fees

In 2005–06, full-time students pay $16,950 in tuition and fees. Berkeley offers protection from tuition increase to students who maintain continuous, full-time enrollment.

Financial Aid

Berkeley is committed to helping students find the financing options that make their education possible. Financial assistance programs are available from federal and state sources and through Berkeley in the forms of scholarships, grants, loans and other awards. Berkeley College, itself, awards more than $12 million each year in scholarships and institutional aid based on academic achievement or financial need. Financial Aid Administrators are available to meet one-on-one with students and their families to develop a plan best suited to individual goals and circumstances.

Applying

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Prospective students who wish to apply as online learning students should submit an online application on the Web site listed in the Contact section. In order to gain acceptance to the online degree program, applicants must successfully complete a short introductory course to familiarize themselves with online learning.
