BISA's Scholarships Assistance Program (High School/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to college students who have been accepted for admission to a college or university and need financial assistance. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be black females; must be graduates or graduating high school seniors. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, leadership potential, financial need, honors and potential for academic growth and leadership development.
Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit completed application form; transcript; SAT or ACT scores; parents' income tax submission to IRS (with W-2 Statement); financial aid award letter; and written self-portrait (two typed double spaced pages or one single spaced page) highlighting where they expect to be in their career development in 10 years. Deadline: April 6.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to offset the cost of education for qualified students who have been accepted by an accredited college or university. Focus: Computer and information sciences; Engineering; Telecommunications systems; Business administration. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduating high school students of African American ethnicity; reside in Maryland, Washington, DC or the Northern Virginia area; hold a grade point average of 2.5 or above; be pursuing a degree in the areas of computer science, information management, engineering, telecommunications, business management/administration or another technology-related field. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, leadership potential, financial need, community service and honors.
Funds Avail.: $500 to $2,500. To Apply: Applicants must submit all the required application information. Deadline: May 5.
