The online education degrees and post-master's certificate programs in K–12, higher education, and continuing and adult education are designed to expand students' knowledge and improve their effectiveness in diverse educational settings. Graduates seek to improve their teaching practices and advance to leadership roles, such as superintendent, principal, academic dean, or dean of student affairs.

The School of Human Services offers the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and postgraduate certificates, so students can follow their passion for social change. The programs prepare students for rewarding work in a variety of institutional, agency, community, and educational settings. Many graduates of the online master's degree program continue their advanced study and seek a Ph.D. in human services.

Capella University is one of the few online universities to offer Master of Science and Ph.D. programs with a specialization in criminal justice. The School of Business and Technology offers the M.S., M.B.A., and Ph.D. degrees and postgraduate certificates. Business specializations provide a broad examination of core business functions and organizational management aspects that address issues critical to business professionals. They explore traditional business disciplines, such as finance, marketing, operations, strategy, and sales/CRM. For M.B.A. learners, this solid business foundation is supplemented by a core set of professional effectiveness courses that emphasize best practices for leading and managing others. The information technology master's degree explores the role of IT in today's business climate and examines the tools and systems used by leading organizations to solve business challenges. The curriculum reflects the skills associated with leading IT certifications, such as CCNA®, CCNP®, MCSE, CISSP®, and PMP.

The School of Undergraduate Studies offers the B.S. degree. Through relevant and practical course work, students gain knowledge and skills that can make an immediate impact in their career—even before they graduate. The programs help students master business fundamentals while developing skills and gaining knowledge in an area of interest.
