Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper, radio station. Social organizations: 132 open to all. Most popular organizations: CANOE (Carleton Association of Nature and Outdoor Enthusiasts), Farm Club, Amnesty International, WHIMS (Women in Math and Science), Ebony II. Major annual events: Halloween Concert and Masquerade Ball, Spring Concert, MidWinter Ball. Student services: health clinic, personal-psychological counseling, women's center. Community Environment:

Northfield (population 15,250), a two-college town, located 40 miles south of Minneapolis and St. Paul, is the home of several major industries that contribute to the prosperity of the community. Part-time employment is limited. Good shopping facilities, library, churches, a hospital and an arts guild are a part of the community. A Carleton - St. Olaf bus also makes round trips daily to the Twin Cities. The Defeat of Jesse James Days in September is a special annual event.
