Description: State and locally supported, 2-year, coed. Part of Wyoming Community College Commission. Awards certificates, transfer associate, and terminal associate degrees. Founded 1966. Setting: 200-acre small town campus. Endowment: $2.4 million. Total enrollment: 1,808. Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 17:1. 394 applied, 100% were admitted. 6% from top 10% of their high school class, 18% from top quarter, 47% from top half. 2 valedictorians. Full-time: 807 students, 65% women, 35% men. Part-time: 1,001 students, 65% women, 35% men. Students come from 20 states and territories, 3 other countries, 5% from out-of-state, 19% Native American, 4% Hispanic, 0.2% black, 0.5% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 1% international, 46% 25 or older, 9% live on campus, 7% transferred in. Community Environment: Located in the lower Wind River Basin, Riverton (population 10,000) is the center of a large farming, lumbering and livestock producing region. The area has a stimulating climate with a summer average temperature of 66 degrees and a winter average of 35 degrees. There are less than 10 inches of rainfall annually. The community is accessed by bus and air lines. There are 25 churches, a modern library, 2 hospitals, 3 clinics, and good shopping available. Local recreation facilities include an Olympic-size swimming pool, and provide for golf, baseball, bowling, hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, snow skiing, rock hunting, and hiking. An Antique Museum, the Wind River Indian Reservation, and many national and state parks are of interest. Part-time employment is available for students.
