Southern New Hampshire University, founded in 1932, is a private, regional institution that is recognized for its solid academic programs and dedication to teaching. Southern New Hampshire University offers certificate and degree programs in business, community economic development, culinary arts, education, hospitality, and liberal arts, with degrees at the associate level through the doctoral level. Southern New Hampshire University is regionally and nationally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, the New England Postsecondary Education Commission, the New Hampshire State Department of Education for Teacher Certification, the American Culinary Federation Education Institute, and the North American Society for Sport Management.
Southern New Hampshire University's online program was established in 1996 and is one of New England's largest and fastest-growing programs. Southern New Hampshire University is a recognized leader in online learning and offers more than thirty undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs. SNHU Online reports more than 12,000 enrollments annually from all over the world.
Southern New Hampshire University is also approved for the education of veterans and the children of veterans and for the rehabilitation training of handicapped students. The program is listed in the Department of Education's Education Directory, Part 3, Higher Education ® . Staff and faculty members are dedicated to delivering high-quality academic and administrative support. Students have access to online applications, registration, academic advising, technical support, course work, tutoring, orientation, the bookstore, and the library.
Distance Learning Program
Southern New Hampshire University's online program is recognized as a leader in online learning and Web-based education. Courses with SNHU Online are offered in six undergraduate terms (eight weeks in length) and four graduate terms (eleven weeks in length) each year. The residency requirement for undergraduate students, which may be satisfied by taking online courses, is 30 semester hours (ten classes) through Southern New Hampshire University, including 12 semester hours from the major for a bachelor's degree or 9 semester hours from the major for an associate degree. Each student's final 24 semester hours must be taken through Southern New Hampshire University. The final hours requirement is automatically waived for active military duty. The graduate program limits transfer credits to 6 semester hours, which must have been completed at an accredited institution within the last five years. In addition, the grade(s) earned must be a B or better.
Delivery Media
SNHU Online offers many advantages to students and faculty members. Classes are limited to 18 students, providing significant faculty-student interaction not found at many onsite-based class environments.
Blackboard Learning System is the learning management system for all online courses. In order to participate in Southern New Hampshire University's online courses, students must have a computer with Internet access. Courses with SNHU Online are not correspondence or CD-ROM–based. Instead, they are asynchronous, with no mandatory or set times that students are required to be online, and courses are self-paced—allowing students to complete their work at their own time and pace, within certain deadlines.

Programs of Study
Southern New Hampshire's online program provides students with a solid educational foundation through programs in business, hospitality, liberal arts, and tourism and culinary management. Undergraduate degree and certificate programs available online within the School of Business include accounting, accounting/finance, business administration, business studies, economics/finance, information technology, international business, management advisory services, marketing, and technical management. Online degree and certificate programs offered through the School of Liberal Arts include English language and literature, psychology, and social science. Graduate degree and certificate programs available online include Global M.B.A., M.Ed. in child development, Master of Science in business education, hospitality administration, and organizational leadership, and a graduate certificate in international business.
Southern New Hampshire University's online courses carry the same accreditation and provide the same semester hours toward a degree as classes taken through the day school or through any one of the University's Continuing Education centers. Credit Options
Students can transfer undergraduate credits earned at other accredited postsecondary institutions to Southern New Hampshire University and can also receive undergraduate credit by taking CLEP, DANTES, Regents College Examinations, institutional exams, military service training programs, ACE-certified career-related workshops and seminars, or other standardized tests. Southern New Hampshire University is designated as a Servicemembers Opportunity College (SOC, SOCNAV, and SOCCOAST)–approved and cooperating institution. As an SOC institution, Southern New Hampshire University awards credit for service-related education and for completion of an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
A maximum of 90 semester hours may be transferred toward a bachelor's degree, and 30 semester hours may be applied to an associate degree. Admission
Applicants for undergraduate degree programs must have graduated from high school or passed the GED. Applicants for graduate programs require a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Official transcripts are required for admission.
International undergraduate applicants must have completed the equivalent of a U.S. secondary school. Students who have attended a recognized postsecondary institution may be eligible to receive transfer credits or exemptions. All applicants must submit a completed application and official or attested copies of academic records translated into English, including proof of graduation or completion of a program and proof of English proficiency. A minimum TOEFL score of 530 is required for undergraduate students. International graduate applicants must have completed the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree and have a minimum TOEFL score of 550.
Tuition and Fees
The tuition for each SNHU Online undergraduate course is $750 and $1428 per 3-credit course. Tuition rates are subject to change. Some courses may require the purchase of specific software.
Financial Aid
Southern New Hampshire University accepts employer tuition reimbursement, federal and private loans, grants, VA Programs/Montgomery GI Bill, Navy College Fund (as part of the GI Bill), and scholarships. Applying
Students may enroll in undergraduate classes on a rolling basis. Official acceptance is not necessary to begin undergraduate course work. All applicants (new and transfer students) must submit an application along with an official high school transcript or original copy of GED scores and, if applicable, official college transcripts. Graduate students who wish to enroll in course work only are limited to taking a maximum of two graduate courses (6 semester hours). Official or unofficial transcripts must be mailed or faxed to the SNHU Online office before a student may register for a graduate course, including course work only students.
