Community Environment: Young Harris is situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northeast Georgia where the climate is moderate. Atlanta, Asheville, Chattanooga, and Greenville, South Carolina, are all within one hundred miles. Various religious denominations, a Lions Club, a clinic, and two hospitals serve the community. As part of a resort area the recreational activities include fishing, boating, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, swimming, tennis, and golf. The county fair is an annual event.
