Albertville (älbĕrvēl´), town (1990 est. pop. 18,121), Savoie dept., E France in the Rhone-Alps region, close to the French-Italian border. Located in the Alps on the Arly River just above its influx into the Isère, Albertville is a transportation and commercial center in a winter sports region. The town was the central site for the 1992 Winter Olympics.
