complementation map
complementation map A gene map in which each mutation is represented by a line or ‘bar’ that overlaps the bars for other mutations which it will not complement. Non-complementing mutants are represented by overlapping, continuous lines. Each bar probably represents the region of the polypeptide that is distorted by an amino acid substitution. Complementation maps are usually linear, and the positions of mutants on the complementation and genetic maps usually accord.
