Princess Arthur of Connaught, duchess of Fife. Name variations: Alexandra Duff and Countess of Macduff. Born Alexandra Victoria Alberta Edwina Louise Duff on May 17, 1891, in Richmond-upon-Thames, Surrey, England; died on February 26, 1959, in London, England; elder daughter of Alexander Duff, first duke of Fife, and of Louise Victoria (1867–1931, daughter of Edward VII); married Arthur Windsor, Prince Arthur of Connaught, in 1913; children: Alastair Windsor, 2nd duke of Connaught and Strathearn.
In 1912, Alexandra succeeded her father Alexander Duff, becoming duchess of Fife. She took up nursing and practiced at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington (1915–19), while with her husband in South Africa (1920–23), and at University College and Charing Cross hospitals. She also ran the Fife Nursing Home in London from 1939 to 1949.
