Blount, Martha (1690–1762)

English literary executor. Born near Reading, England, on June 15, 1690; died in Berkeley Row, Hanover Square, London, 1762; educated at Hammersmith and in Paris.

Martha Blount was an intimate friend of Alexander Pope, who dedicated his Epistle on Women (1735) to her. In his will, Pope left Blount £1,000, many books, and all his household goods; he also made her residuary legatee.
