Hungarian pianist and teacher. Born Hedwig Kanner in Budapest, Hungary, on June 3, 1882; died in Asheville, North Carolina, on September 5, 1959; studied in Vienna with Theodor Leschetizky and Moriz Rosenthal; married Moriz Rosenthal.
Hedwig Kanner-Rosenthal was born in Budapest in 1882 and studied in Vienna with Theodor Leschetizky and Moriz Rosenthal, whom she married. After her Vienna debut, she taught in that city for five years. Her musical activities were varied, as a concert artist, accompanist, chamber-music pianist and duo-piano partner. She often performed with her husband. Starting in 1939, she worked alongside her husband at his piano school in New York City. Her students included Robert Goldsand and Charles Rosen.
