Maitland, Agnes Catherine (1850–1906)

English educator . Born in 1850; died in 1906.

As the principal of Somerville College, Oxford, from 1889 to 1906, Agnes Catherine Maitland was responsible for increasing enrollment, developing a tutorial system, and the construction of a college library. She was also the author of the highly popular Rudiments of Cookery, as well as novels.
