Windsor, Claire (1897–1972)
American silent film star. Born Clara Viola Cronk in Crawker City, Kansas, in 1897; died in 1972; educatedat schools in Topeka and Seattle; married William Boyes (lasted one year); married Bert Lytell (an actor), in 1925 (divorced 1927); children: (first marriage) son Bill Boyes.
Claire Windsor starred in the silents during the 1920s, working for nearly every major Hollywood studio, but retired soon after the advent of sound. In addition to the movies she did for Lois Weber —To Please One Woman (1920), What's Worth While (1921), Too Wise Wives (1921), The Blot (1921), What Do Men Want? (1921)—Windsor starred in Little Church Around the Corner (1923), Rupert of Hentzau (1923), Dance Madness (1926), The Claw (1927), Captain Lash (1929), and many others.
