Dambulla
Dambulla (dämbŏŏl´ə), town, central Sri Lanka. A place of Buddhist pilgrimage, it has a well-preserved cave temple complex at Dambulla Rock that dates to the 1st cent. BC There is a recumbent Buddha figure 47 ft (14 m) long. Nearby is Kandalama reservoir and a tourist hotel complex.
