City Slickers ★★★ 1991 (PG-13)

Three men with midlife crises leave New York City for a cattleranch vacation that turns into an arduous, characterbuilding stint. Many funny moments supplied by leads Crystal, Stern, and Kirby, but Palance steals the film as a salty, wise cowpoke. Slater is fetching as the lone gal vacationer on the cattle drive. Boxoffice winner notable for a realistic calf birthing scene, one of few in cinema history. From an idea by Crystal, who also produced. Palance stole the show from Oscar ceremonies host Crystal a second time when he accepted his award and suddenly started doing onearm pushups, startling the audience into laughter. 114m/C VHS, DVD .
