Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights
Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights ★★ 2004 (PG-13)
Folks, it's not a sequel, it's not a prequel—it's a “re-imagining.” This time around the dirty dancers are in Cuba (although filmed in Puerto Rico) and the year is 1958 on the eve of the Communist Revolution. Young Katey's (Garai) dad transplants the family and, bored, she meets Javier (Luna), the poor yet sexy busboy, and…well…really you know the rest. It's great eye candy and the couple is very appealing but they lack that certain something that Swayze (who makes a cameo) and Grey exuded. 86m/C VHS, DVD . US Diego Luna, Romola Garai, Sela Ward, John Slattery, Jonathan Jackson, January Jones, Mika Boorem, Rene Lavan, Patrick Swayze, Mya; D: Guy Ferland; W: Boaz Yakin, Peter Sagal, Victoria Arch; C: Anthony B. Richmond; M: Heitor Pereira.
