Fire Over England
Fire Over England ★★★ 1937
Young naval officer volunteers to spy at the Spanish court to learn the plans for the invasion of his native England and to identify the traitors among the English nobility. He arouses the romantic interest of his queen, Elizabeth I, one of her ladies, and a Spanish noblewoman who helps with his missions, and later leads the fleet to victory over the huge Spanish Armada. The first onscreen pairing of Olivier and Leigh is just one of the many virtues of this entertaining drama. 81m/B VHS, DVD .
