Held Up
Held Up ★½ Inconvenienced 2000 (PG-13)
Engaged couple Foxx and Long are having a hard time staying together when after they have a fight and Foxx becomes a hostage during a botched convenience store robbery in a sleepy southwestern town. Broad comedy works in all the black-guy-meets-white-yokels gags, but they've all been done before by funnier writers. Foxx has some appeal, but not enough to overcome this mess. It could've been worse: Rob Schneider bailed after four days of filming. 88m/C VHS, DVD . Jamie Foxx, Nia Long, Jake Busey, John Cullum, Barry Corbin, Eduardo Yanez, Mike Wiles, Sarah Paulson, Julie Hagerty; D: Steve Rash; W: Jeff Eastin; C: David Makin; M: Robert Folk.
