Land of the Blind
Land of the Blind ★ 2006 (R)
Failed political satire about a revolution set in an unknown time and a nameless country. Thorne (Sutherland) is a leftist rebel leader who's imprisoned and tortured for his beliefs. But once the dictatorship is overthrown and Thorne assumes power, he becomes just as repressive as the old regime. Former jailer turned second-in-command Joe (Fiennes) realizes what a mistake he's made. Edwards' first feature is also an all-around mistake that even professionals like Fiennes and Sutherland can't salvage. 101m/C DVD . GB Ralph Fiennes, Donald Sutherland, Tom Hollander, Lara Flynn Boyle, Mark Warren, Camilla Rutherford, Mackenzie Crook, Jodhi May; D: Robert Edwards; W: Robert Edwards; C: Barbara Parkins; M: Guy Farley, Simon White, Doug Edwards.
