League of Ordinary Gentlemen ★★★ 2004

Three former Microsoft execs purchased the Pro Bowlers Association for $5 million and hired Steve Miller from Nike to help revive and make it more exciting and media friendly. Film documents the 2003 nationwide tour, which culminated in a tense world championship in Detroit. We witness the tour through the fortunes of four pros, Pete Weber, a flamboyant player, Walter Ray Williams Jr., a low-key guy who can be a bit imposing, Chris Barnes, a clean-cut but moody fellow, and Wayne Webb, who knows after his past broken marriages and bankruptcies this tour will make or break his bowling career. An endearing film touching on American life and the eccentricities and hardships of competition. 100m/C DVD . USD: Christopher Browne; C: Ken Seng.
